Warnung vor dieser (von Paul M. Sammon herausgegebenen) Konzept-Anthologie!

Ein paar der Geschichten haben nicht viel mehr mit Elvis Presley zu schaffen, als ihn zu erwähnen. (Ich schaue in eure Richtung, Backstage, Donna Rae und Love Me Tenderized…!)

Andere Stories würden genausogut mit anderen Künstlern funktionieren und sind darum einer dem King gewidmeten Anthologie ebenfalls unwürdig. Von den mittelmäßigen Geschichten ganz zu schweigen.

Lichtblicke sind selten.

Erwähnenswert sind meines Erachtens nur Burnin' Luv, Double Trouble, Presley 45 und Lou Reeds non-fiktionale Abrechnung Damaged Gods.

Fazit: Für Elvis' Fans ein Muss, für die der meisten hier beteiligten Autoren hingegen eine ziemliche Enttäuschung.

Ach ja: Joe R. Lansdales aussagenlose Story Bubba Ho-Tep wurde inzwischen verfilmt. Und Bruce 'Ash' Campbell spielt Elvis Sebastian Haff!
